Next Tuesday, I’ll be presenting about the Storyteller Archetype at the London Arts-Based Research Centre’s Conference “The Art of Storytelling: Archetypes in Focus.” My dissertation was on the Storyteller Archetype, so you know this topic was catnip to me! (Yes, the conference is in Scotland. Alas, I will be attending via zoom rather than flying to Scotland.)
I am shrinking and mildly adjusting my dissertation defense presentation for this purpose. Did you wish you could have seen my defense? Well, here’s your chance to see it live!
This Thursday (TOMORROW, May 23), I’m going to livestream this presentation as a practice round for the conference. I’m going to try not to Um, Like, Ah too much, but I expect the trial run to be a little clunky. The livestream will be free on my Patreon at 6pm MT / 8pm ET.
The conference presentation is limited to 15 minutes, so I’m working to shrink my 22-min presentation down. For the livestream, we will have the 15 minute practice presentation, and then shift over to Q&A. The questions and clarifications from the Q&A may inform how I adjust the presentation for next week’s official performance.
Naturally, I will also be attending the conference, as well. The presentations span from 3AM my time to 3PM, so I’m trying to decide what my actual hours are going to be for the three-day event. I’m super excited to see some of these topics! They are all in my wheelhouse of archetypes or storytelling, and some of them may be worth getting onto zoom at 3AM. My session actually has another Pacifica alum in the panel.
Meanwhile back at the Hacienda…
I’m going to be posting more in the coming weeks as I complete additional projects. I’ve got about five pots on the stove, bubbling away. Writing, class preparation, video/asynchronous class editing, more writing, and video creations for Patreon and Youtube! I am so busy stirring all of them so they don’t scorch, it does take a different sort of attention and energy than my previous content creation cadence. As they are ready to come off the stove, I’ll be announcing them here.
So far the Patreon has been an interesting exercise. The “Hearth” level of membership is getting weekly blog posts that are more personal and a little more vulnerable than I might share here. The paid tiers get weekly videos of rituals based on Tarot cards, plus other behind the scenes and goodies sprinkled in throughout the month. I try to do 2-3 things per week over there.
My Marketer-Brain has also taken the Patreon on as a challenge. I’ve been revisiting CTA best practices and doing some click testing to figure out how to do a better job at promoting the Patreon for sign-ups. I don’t think most people realize that there’s a free tier, where you get emails and communication updates about things I’m doing there. (For example, this livestream!) The free tier sign-ups still help me. First, because it means I’m not spamming people interested in Burnout stuff with Unicorn stuff. Second, because as I work to sell books to publishers, having semi-gated communities that are relevant to the topic can be a major selling point.
Thank you for being with me on this journey. It’s growing in new and exciting ways, that I can’t wait to share with you!
