Light in the Darkness (Free Webinar)

Hope and optimism can be hard to find or maintain when the messages we receive are overwhelming, dreadful, and full of despair. This is a webinar for finding and maintaining your light in the darkness, even while you’re still paying attention to what’s happening in the larger world.

About twenty years ago, I was riding on a commuter train to work. Peering over the driver’s shoulder as we hurtled through a tunnel, I knew that we were about to explode into above-ground daylight any moment. I was waiting breathlessly for that moment. Then, I saw it! The light!

Instead of the light at the end of the tunnel, all I’d really seen was a reflection of a light gleaming in the mirror image of my own eyes in the glass. The light at the end of the tunnel was in my own eyes.

That profound image has stayed with me, defying poetry and depiction, for over two decades.

Those of us who are bringers of hope are the ones who are creative and called to keep creating to spite the darkness. We are the ones who gaze forever into the tunnel, never getting to see the light that we shed behind us. This webinar is for the defiant, bleak, despairing creative. The dissociating optimist. The parent who doesn’t know how to help.
